You might not know this spice by it's name, but it's distinct yellow color, smell and taste is unforgettable.
It's notorious in curry dishes, and sometimes the spice will just be referred to as curry.
Turmeric has been around for thousands of years and is a staple in Ayurvedic medicine (more on Ayurveda later in another post).
CURCUMIN- one of turmeric's prime time ingredients is thought to help fight inflammation.
All diseases and illnesses start with some sort of inflammation in your body and this spice helps every type.
1. A memory boost.
A study in March 2018 done in people from 51- 84 years old found that those who took 90mg of curcumin twice a day for a year saw a boost in memory compared to those who didn't.

2. Turmeric can help fight heart disease and some cancers.
The antioxidants and anti-inflammatory components help protect against further damage caused by heart conditions and prevent and slow down the activity of certain tumor cells including skin and digestive cancers.
3. Heat it and pair it with black pepper
Chemicals found in black pepper enhance the turmeric absorption levels in the body. To enhance the flavor even more, add with coconut oil, honey, ginger, get creative!

4. Turmeric can help with pain and inflammation in sports.
Tough practices, long hours of physical activity, pushing your body over the edge, and the emotional pressure placed on games and events can all lead to inflammation.
Supplement form is great for athletes to make sure its fully digested and ready to be absorbed.
Other natural ways to fight inflammation? Broccoli, pineapple, and ginger. Trying all these in smoothie form now...
